In short: everything you record in Car Tracer stays on your device, so nothing reaches us and we have no way to look at it. The only things that ever leave, and only if you buy Pro, are two: your license key, which travels so we can check it is valid, and your IP address, which the verification service sees when that request arrives just as any website you open sees it, and which serves only to stop someone sitting there brute-forcing keys. Neither one is stored anywhere.

What stays on your device:
All of this is kept in the browser on this device, in the private space every site gets and that no other site can reach. It never leaves unless you export it yourself using the backup feature.
Because it lives in the browser, it also depends on it: clearing the site data, uninstalling the app or switching browsers takes that data with it. That is why it is worth exporting a backup now and then.
The only things that leave the device, and only if you buy Pro:
Neither is stored: both are used at the moment of the check and discarded. There is no user database because there are no users — the app asks for no account.
In the vehicle details you can note sensitive things if you want: the plates, the VIN, the engine number, a photo of the car or who owned it before you, plus documents like your insurance policy. All of that is optional and stays on this device, where we neither receive it nor can see it. The only way it leaves is if you export it yourself.
The most sensitive ones — plates, serial numbers, the photo of the vehicle and previous owners — are kept apart from the rest, outside the plain-text listing where the make and mileage live.
What you record is stored in the private space your browser reserves for this app. That space belongs to cartracer.com.mx alone: no other site you have open, no third-party cookie and no ad can reach it. That is not a promise of ours — it is how browsers work.
On top of that, the app loads nothing from other domains — no fonts, no analytics, no libraries — and its security policy stops any code that did not ship with it from running. A foreign script inside the page could read your data; that is why there is none.
Installing the app changes none of this. Car Tracer is a web app: installing it from cartracer.com.mx gives it its own launcher, but the data stays in the same store belonging to the same domain. Nothing is copied anywhere new, nothing is registered with your phone's app store, and nothing is synced.
What this does not cover, and is worth being clear about: anyone holding your unlocked phone can open the app and see what is there, just as they can open your gallery or your email. Your device screen lock is what protects that case.
Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy, acting as merchant of record for the sale. Car Tracer never sees or stores your card details. When you buy, Lemon Squeezy emails you your license key and the corresponding receipt. See their privacy policy for how they handle your payment data.
It is a one-time payment, not a subscription, and that is a privacy fact too: no card is left on file waiting for next month's charge, and neither we nor they need to bill you again. If you ask for a refund, it is Lemon Squeezy who moves the money back, the same way it came.
When you activate Pro, the app checks whether that key is valid and belongs to this product. That check repeats from time to time while you use the app, so Pro needs an internet connection occasionally — not every time you open it, and nothing is blocked while you are offline.
Your key is stored on your device, alongside your other data, and is deleted when you turn Pro off.
There are no ads inside Car Tracer, neither in the free version nor in Pro. The app carries no advertising trackers, does not profile what you do, and we sell your data to nobody. What funds the product is the Pro license.
The app has no cookies, no analytics and no tracking pixels. The space it uses in your browser is only for keeping your data and preferences on the device — not for following you.
This website (the home page and these legal pages) is hosted by Netlify, which logs visits the way any web server does: which page was requested, when, and from what IP address. These are aggregate statistics; they carry no name and do not follow you to other sites.
When you buy, the payment happens at Lemon Squeezy, which uses what it needs to complete the charge and prevent fraud. Their terms apply there, not ours.
Car Tracer is operated from Mexico and follows the Federal Law on Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties (LFPDPPP). Wherever you are, you have the right to:
Because your data never reaches us, most of these you exercise directly in the app without asking anyone. For anything else, write to info@cartracer.com.mx and we reply within 30 business days.
We reserve the right to update this notice when the app changes or the law requires it. If the change is material we will announce it on our changelog page and update the date on this document. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it; if you disagree, you can export your data and stop using it at any time.
